Monare Makoti holds B Proc and LLM degrees and was admitted to the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in December 2012. His preferred areas of practice include constitutional, labour, contract law and civil litigation. Monare appears primarily in the High Courts, arbitrations and the CCMA and other bargaining councils.

In addition to his practice he has been the Head of Secretariat in the Khumalo and Hendler Commissions of Inquiry and lectured briefly in law at the University of the North West prior to becoming an advocate.
