Max Du Plessis was admitted to the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Advocates in 2000. His preferred areas of practice are constitutional, administrative, international, competition (with a particular focus on regulatory law) and human rights law. He has appeared before the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Appeal, the High Courts, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the East African Court of Justice, as well as Namibian, Swazi, and Botswana High Courts.
Max is a senior research associate at the Institute for Security Studies in the programme on International Crime in Africa. In this capacity he regularly consults governments, NGOs and international tribunals on matters regarding international criminal law. He holds B Iuris, LLB, LLM degrees and a PhD.
Max is also an associate tenant of Doughty Street Chambers, London.
